REACH and Ashley’s 21st!

Didn’t get pictures from REACH but a few of my friends took pictures so might get it from them this coming week.

It was a cool time repainting the school. I’m sure sections of my lungs were sacrificed inhaling all the old paint that was sandpapered off but all in all I had a good time. Besides the waking up early, don’t think I was that tired. But honestly, I think we did a really bad job…

Our hearts might have been right but our hands just did not match it I guess at the end of the day hehe… Ah well…

PiX from tonite’s birthday party… (…most pictures didn’t turn out good :( …)

Birthday girl!!! Happy Birthday again Ash! Welcome to adulthood…

Love this pic! (You never know what you’ll get when other people have your camera on their hands…)

This pic was quite cool too… NOT taken by me heh

The food was amazing! We probably had like 7-8 dishes of Asian and Western delight just screaming out at us. Ashley made this bacon mash potato thing and Edwin decorated the place with balloons and all… The atmosphere was quite relaxing hehe…

One thing that really stood out for me was that Ashley chose to focus people on her Compassion child in Peru on her 21st birthday. She channelled everyone to give (monetary) gifts directly towards her Compassion child.

21… A number which signifies adulthood and I guess if you welcome adulthood with a generous and outward looking spirit like Ashley, you are bound to set yourself up for an impactful life.

Amazing isn’t it?

God bless!

Week 7!

It is officially the end of Week 7…
Sigh sigh…

I don’t know, I think this part-time job is doing me a great deal of help but I mean its not adding anything substantial to my CV, yet, at least. But I guess in everything we will definitely learn things even if it doesn’t mean anything to the world sometimes.

Like last night’s dinner with Eugene. It was a great dinner. We talked about a lot of things and exchanged a whole lot of information too. It’s great to have practically purposeful conversations. Hehe ;) We also went for a merry-go-round in and about Sydney for a cafe which was open at 11pm on ANZAC Day and finally found Conelli’s (?) in Newtown open! The search took an hour plus!

But besides that, nothing much going on these few days…

Had a REACH fundraiser event on Tuesday! :)

All food cooked by Sandra! Awesome awesome food!

We had 5 dishes, 1 soup and 1 dessert!

A Taiwanese ‘cawan mushi’… Amazing ’secret recipe’ hehe

And creatively hatched apples with ice-cream! It was pretty amazing as well… Soft sugary ice-cream melting into solid textured apples… One of the nicer ‘combinations’ I have tried. (I remember I had tea prawns once…)

Ah well… Till the weekend! Our annual REACH (Responsible Effort and Active Community Help)!!!

God bless!

Quote of the Week!

“The busiest person in the world has the same amount of time as you…”

Daniel from my Connect Group enlightened us with this phrase as we tackled the subject of time in our studies. Sandra contributed by quoting this pastor from Colour saying,

“God gave you enough time to do what you’re supposed to do. If you find yourself not having enough time, you are either doing things you’re not supposed to do or other people are doing things that they’re not supposed to do.”

Two very awesome life-changing quotes I’m learning to live by. Thank God for friends! Funny to say that I heard these quotes last Wednesday and didn’t have to time to post it till now… Go figure! :P

God bless!
P.S. Chronicles of Riddick is a great game!

Small things we take for granted…

Taktshang monastery, Bhutan

I just found this article extremely insightful.

It talks about how Bhutan is only now entering democracy. Its unthinkable to be living in countries like this but the funny thing is, they are always happy.

Its funny how I see some people complicate their lives just to end up unhappy.

God bless!

On a day like today…

I didn’t believe the impact when my lecturer said tragedy sells newspapers. I saw it first hand today. Sold so many papers today…

I could say “What has this world come to?” and invite you to think about the deaths of these students and compare it to the other shootings in other eras/places.

I could also invite you to contemplate people dying every day in Africa and other less developed nations. 20,000 a day apparently.

But I’ll probably not. I just want you to think if you have people around you who is like the shooter responsible and that if you are showing them love and acceptance. Or are you responsible for sending them off the edge?

God bless!

Cool things I found today…

While the rain is falling and yours truly is busy idling his time away, procastinating on his assignment… These news articles/websites landed on his laptop

I am so intrigued by this advertisement that I got into their website…
(Of course, you don’t click web advertisements! Oh you never do! You just manually enter the URL ok? OK! :P )

http://rlhome.polo.com/rlhome/default.asp

But I think the ads were better than the website itself… Too messy I think… But good concept I guess… Americans are way up there in terms of lavishness and luxury…

Another website that caught my eye was this!

Gay By Design, Or a Lifestyle Choice?

Caught YOUR eye didn’t it? Haha! :P

Last but not least… I have to announce that Marvin’s ‘gift’ to me in the form of a NEC TV has outshone all its cathode rays… I am now without a TV… The room is so quiet… Especially when SokLeng’s not here to liven it up… (She left back to SG today… *huge sigh*)

Aaaaaanyway, was looking at TVs (and the other news articles) and what-nots and stumbled upon this…

The Drive-In Without The Drive

Oh. My. Goodness.

Hehe
Awesome isn’t it? I think I’ve found my newest favourite newspaper section. HiakS!

More updates later in the week when procrastination is no longer a guilty pleasure. :P

God bless!

The Easter Long Weekend
11 April, 2007, 12:07 am

It was double demerit points this Easter long weekend on the roads. That means you lose twice the amount of ‘normal’ points if you do something silly. I nearly got caught by the police! The car that was in front of me beat a yellow light but I think he got caught for speeding instead of the light. And I was right behind him, having barely beat the yellow amber light before that. I was so freaked out man! If he wasn’t there, I think I would probably be the one the police stopped. Phew…

Anyway… it was quite an OK weekend. Filled with church and a solemn reminder for myself the sacrifice of Jesus and how God became man and the divine exchange and all.

We had “Touching Heaven” night on Sunday and Darlene and Marty was in the city for that. We had church at the Darling Harbor Convention Centre!

SokLeng and her mom’s here too! They arrived on Sunday night and I want to spend as much time as I’m allowed to with her as I possibly could hehe Other priorities have to come into play too you know :)

And here come the piccies from the long weekend…

Nydia and Sandra soaking up the sun and some coffee at Darling Harbor before “Touching Heaven” night on Resurrection Sunday night. It was such a great night!!! I never wanna take my church for granted. EVER!

Matt representing USYD at the Uni Retreat Day on Monday. Another great day and another event I do not want to take for granted. We are so so so blessed people!

The UTS bungle… :P

The weather turned from cloudy to sunny within hours… We had such a blast and just to know more people and to learn from each other is so helpful in building community within like-minded people.

Judah Miller is so adorable!

A tuft of grass.

Ahhh… Had a few conversations over the weekend which really made me sad and a little angry and all but I guess its ok. I don’t understand some people sometimes but I guess we are all different in some ways or another and not all of us can or want to do things that deep down inside we know we ought to do.

Another thing I hate is people telling me what to do without showing/teaching me how to do it. They go on and on (showing off) about how this way is good or this particular thing is interesting but deny all access for me to it. That riles me up like nothing else man.

Are some people that socially inept? Or are they that insecure that they need to show off that badly?

Oh… I’m so riled up already just thinking about it. I need to stop.

Goodnight world!
God bless!

When you say nothing at all…

Taboo and Charades over Easter Party on Thursday night!

1.jpg
Thanks to Nydia for taking the pictures!

2.jpg
Yupp… Pulp Fiction!

3.jpg
There was a healthy crowd there. Probably around 20-30 people. It was awesome!

4.jpg
It was one of the most fun nights I have had in recent memory…

5.jpg
Amazingly humorous and sporting people contributed greatly to the atmosphere.

I think the funny moments from the night can be stretched into years to come…

Gonna watch ‘300′ this arvo in the cinemas. Hopefully it’ll be good! Not a fan of CGI ‘gory’ films… Hope actually watching it changes my mind…

God bless!

And You saw me…
When You took the crown of thorns…

And Your love washed over me…
And You loved me…
Through the nails that You bore…
And Your love washes over me…

What’s this?

Three. days. in. a. row.

Back to back (No, it IS back. to. back.) events starting from yesterday morning. Work, The Spot, assignment, class, assignment. *sore throat, feel like dying* Sleep. *feel like dying* Assignment, work, assignment. *this is where I’m at right now*. Sleep. Work, assignment, get ready game for party. PRESENTATION of assignment!, class n then… EASTER PARTY! wuahahaha!

Then it’s Good Friday. then United at night. Then I think my Saturday’s free! Phew!

Then Sunday SokLeng and mom arrives! hehe So back to ‘busy’ mode again I guess hehe

Ah well… I guess it’s good being busy and tired rather than bored and tired.

Not complaining. Lovin life. Lovin God. Oh God. Seriously, tell me, how do you guys do it without God? Must be tough. Not knowing who to count on. Not knowing where your security will come from. Not having someone to lean on and know that will be there for you. Tough life you got there. Crazy.

Time to sleep. Goodbye my fellow earthlings… for now…

Keep your head up, stay humble and make at least one person smile today.

God bless!
