Life is better than death. Love; greater than either…

It’s only week 2!

Hey hey hey! I think Uni students should start phasing out speaking in term of semester weeks. But then again, it is all about the weeks, don’t you think? For Uni students at least…

I like to number my days… As in Monday 1, Tuesday 2, Wednesday 3, etc… Don’t you think its easier? Hmmm…

Anyway, had an interesting lecture today in my Dealing With The Media course. We talked about a lot of things but as he spoke about his view on 9/11, it was quite fresh. The journalists who covered the first 24 hours of 9/11 were not war correspondents; they were not used to blood and gore. They covered news for courthouses, medical journals, economics and finance, etc. They were locals of NYC, the city was their backyard…
So when the world heard the news from New York City, as we remembered, we were watching full-blown emotions from the journalists. So, my lecturer concluded, it was a self-injected shock by the media. Compare it if war correspondents disconnected from the city were the actual ones reporting it. It would be (relatively) emotionless and distant.

Another good point he brought up was that 9/11 was not a terrorist act, it was a media event. The first plane went into the towers at 8.20am and the 2nd plane did not come in till 9+ am. Giving the cameras plenty of time to climb unto adjacent buildings and film the ‘spectacular fireball’ caused by the first plane. So when the 2nd plane hits the towers, the WHOLE world would have been watching…

Another piece of info I learnt today was that the terrorists hijacked planes which were supposed to fly to Los Angeles, the east coast of the US. This means the planes had the maximum amount of fuel possible on board. Crazy right?

Ah well…
Here’s to life!
God bless!
